Frankie is one!
I cannot believe that we have a one year old! How? When? Where? Does time really fly by like this? Whoa! If I did not cherish time in the past, I do now! Our little Miss Frankie Louise turned one on November 25th. It was such an emotional day for both me and Andy. Not only because Frankie was turning one, but also a huge relief to have made it a year as new parents without killing each other. It has been a long yet short year filled with many new adventures and challenges. The best adventure of all was becoming parents to this sweet little girl. The best feeling, to be honest. This whole parenthood thing started off rough, but it has evened out and continues to do so. Frankie has brought so much change into our lives and has challenged us to adapt to those changes. It's an adventure that will keep on giving.
Now, let's talk about her first birthday party! We all know that Frankie will not remember any of this. If we're being real here, I'll acknowledge that the party was for us (the parents). This was a celebration of our transition into parenthood and for surviving the first year as parents. And if you know me, you know how much I love throwing beautiful events. It's my thing. I was not going to pass up an opportunity to throw a beautiful party. I came up with the concept and design of the party. Did all the flowers and decor with the help of my cousin Alima, my mother-in-law Bette, and my brothers Papa and Agya. It was a family affair. We had so much fun working on the floral arrangements and setting the room up for the celebration. We couldn't have done it without the help of Matt, who is also the owner of the beautiful space at Talon Room.
The food was oh so delicious and catered by our favorite chef in Lincoln, NE, Aaron Young of Chef au Chef. Everyone went back for seconds! The food was appropriate for both the adults and kids and was enjoyed by all. I cannot thank Aaron enough for this amazing food and his time. It was definitely a highlight.
The dessert was another hit! The main cake was made by the beautiful Kate of KJ and Company. I've known Kate for awhile and have always admired her skills in the culinary world. When I saw her post a photo of this exact same cake on her Instagram, I knew I had to have that for Frankie's party. It was not just a beautiful cake, it was delicious! I wish I had leftovers to fly back to San Francisco.
The sugar cookies were made by my amazing mother-in-law, Bette. It was incredibly delicious and I ate at least 7 of them. I had people come to me asking about them and if they could get the recipe. It was that delicious. I can't thank her enough for putting in the time and effort into making these delicious cookies! I will quit blabbering now and let you enjoy the photos.

Happy first birthday, my Frankie girl! I wish nothing but the best in this world for you, and I want you to always remember that you are SO loved! You will be kind, you will be compassionate, you will be great, you will be human. Mommy and daddy love you so much and can't wait to see you grow into a beautiful woman. We love you!
