This past year, we finally made it over to London. The first stop on a four city trip in late May, we spent four days in the UK capital. Over the time, we met up with many friends and relatives, hit up the tourist spots, and wandered the streets in search of the ideal pub. The weather was unusually dry, with warm temps and sun blessing us for the first couple days. Of course we had to get at least one day of rainy, soggy London too.
Some of our highlights were the sights along the Thames; Saint Paul's Cathedral, the Tate Modern, the Tower Bridge and the House of Parliament. We also spent a wonderful morning at the National Gallery with our family London expert Larry, before hitting up his favorite pub Chandos. Later we took a leisurely stroll from Westminister down through St James Park to Buckingham Palace, tracing the Queens path earlier that day when she delivered her annual address to Parliament. On our final day we wandered down Oxford Street, jetting off to explore Marylebone and Fitzrovia. We hope to visit again soon for a longer time and spend more time in the different hoods.
